We are celebrating our 25th Anniversary in style at the beautiful St John’s Smith Square with a performance of one of the masterpieces of Romantic choral music: Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem. This performance is of the composer’s own arrangement of the work for piano duet.
In stark contrast with the traditional Latin mass for the dead, Brahms’ Requiem is a setting of seven passages from scripture that he chose himself in order to communicate a positive and optimistic message of consolation, hope, and joy to come.
Conducted by our Founder Musical Director, Mark Ford, The Purcell Singers will be joined by soprano Mary Nelson, baritone Johannes Moore, and piano duo Andrew Smith and Christopher Hopkins.
Tickets £15, (£12 conc), £10 - available from St John’s Smith Square website.
