The Purcell Singers return to St Martin-in-the-Fields in July for a full-length programme in celebration of English choral music and poetry.

Including Vaughan Williams' beautiful Serenade to Music and Five Mystical Songs, and George Shearing's wonderful jazz-inspired settings of Songs and Sonnets, the programme will be completed with works by Elgar and Finzi.

And in this summer of Shakespeare celebrations, the words will be provided by the nation's most famous bard, along with Tennyson, Byron and Shelley, Robert Bridges and George Herbert.
