Auditions

The Purcell Singers perform extensively across venues in London, the UK and internationally, and take part in classical recordings, soundtracks and movie trailers.

We usually rehearse in central London and do not meet every week, but instead book a short series of rehearsals in the weeks preceding a concert - usually four to six rehearsals, depending on the repertoire.

Please note that this choir performs at a very high standard with limited rehearsal. We therefore expect all singers to be strong sightreaders, and be willing to look at music between rehearsals. As an amateur choir, singers are not paid for participating, but unlike other amateur choirs, there are no fees to join.

If this sounds like you, please book your audition via the link below and become part of our friendly and talented group of musicians.

The audition process

Singers will be asked to perform a piece of no more than 4 minutes which shows off their voice well. There will also be a short sightreading test, and you may be asked to sing some scales. The audition process should take no more than 15 minutes, and we can advise on audition pieces if desired.
